if you haven’t heard of ChatGPT in the last few months, have you been hiding under a rock?
I started seeing information appearing on Twitter around 6 months ago with people getting excited about the AI language model and in the last few weeks, it seems to have exploded!
If you’re wondering what it is and how to use ChatGPT, you’ve come to the right place! I have been extremely impressed by ChatGPT’s capabilities, it has been a game changer here on Be Social With Media.
From helping me to come up with ideas, write Instagram captions and provide outlines for my blogs, I no longer find myself staring at a screen with complete content block. I head straight over to ChatGPT and before I know it, I’ve written several blog posts.

Having to consistently keep up with social media, writing captions and thinking of Story ideas, working out the new trends and audio and creating content for your websites can be mentally draining.

How does it work?
This sounds great! Erm… how does it work?
It’s quite mind-boggling really. We are used to typing things into Google and getting extremely good answers to our queries, but this seems next level. It’s like being in a very long and boring brainstorming session in a stuffy and lacklustre office meeting room, without the stuffy, lacklustre, long and boring connotations.
I just ask ChatGPT to come up with a 10-step strategy for my content-creating goals this week and it answers me straight away? Yes.
OpenAI, the research laboratory of researchers and engineers behind ChatGPT (and founded by a group of investors, one being Elon Musk!), has created an advanced AI language model that uses machine learning algorithms to generate human-like responses to natural language prompts.
This includes –

- Contextural Analysis – ChatBPT can analyse the context of the message to understand the meaning behind the words

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use ChatGPT

- Once on the OpenAI website, navigate to the ChatGPT page by clicking on the “Try” link at the top of the page.
- To use ChatGPT, you will need to create an account. Click on the “Sign Up” button and follow the instructions to create your account.
- After creating your account, you should be good to go! It will open up a New chat with a prompt box at the bottom. OpenAI offers a range of plans, from free to Plus, depending on your needs. So far, I have only needed the free plan but as the platform gets more users, will probably upgrade.
- Start sending prompts to ChatGPT. To generate responses from ChatGPT, type a prompt in the bottom box and press return. The prompt can be any text input, such as a question or a statement.
- After sending a prompt to ChatGPT, the API will generate a response and return it to you. The response will be in the form of text and will be generated based on the input prompt and the language patterns learned by ChatGPT during training.
Getting the Most Out of ChatGPT
When I first created an account on ChatGPT, I took one look at it, wasn’t sure what to make of it and decided to leave it for another day. It is such a simple setup; I couldn’t quite get my head around it and thought there was much more to it which confused me no end.
But it really is that simple.
Type what information you are looking for and you’ll be amazed! It took me a week or two to fully understand how to get the most out of ChatGPT so here are some tips and tricks for using it more effectively.
Provide clear and concise prompts
To get the best possible responses from ChatGPT, it’s important to provide clear and concise prompts. This means avoiding overly complex, ambiguous or convoluted questions and statements that may be difficult for ChatGPT to understand.
Use relevant and specific prompts
Another key to getting effective responses from ChatGPT is to use specific prompts. For example, if you’re using ChatGPT as software for content creation to help with a blog post, try to provide prompts that are related to the specific topic or theme of the post.
I tend to break all my blogs down into sections and then ask ChatGPT to provide me with ideas around that section.
Use context
ChatGPT relies on context to generate responses, so providing additional context can help guide its output.
If you’re asking ChatGPT a question about a specific person, provide some additional context about that person (e.g. their occupation, location, or interests) to help ChatGPT generate a more relevant response.

One of the things I find extremely tedious about SEO for blogging is adding in all the alt text to images. I now use ChatGPT to come up with alt text for me, here is one example –
I typed in “palm trees pool beach sea dubai” for the below image and it came back with –
“A scenic view of palm trees surrounding a swimming pool and a beach overlooking the Gulf Sea in Dubai”.
Now, I know this isn’t ground breaking stuff, but when you’ve got 100s of images to alt text, this made the process so much speedier and less tedious!
This is a very simple task for ChatGPT, you really can ask it to come up with anything!
